A Million Miles Away is a 2023 biopic film about José Hernández, the first Mexican-American astronaut to travel to space.
Hernández was born in a small village in Michoacán, Mexico. As a child, he dreamed of becoming an astronaut, even though he knew it was a long shot. He came from a poor family and had to work hard to support himself. But he never gave up on his dream.
Hernández eventually immigrated to the United States and earned a degree in electrical engineering. He then went on to work for NASA, where he helped to develop the digital mammography imaging system.
In 2004, Hernández was selected to be an astronaut. He trained for several years and finally flew into space in 2009 on Space Shuttle mission STS-128.
